Eugenia Piddini
Eugenia Piddini is a cell and developmental biologist. Her group studies the mechanisms and function of cell competition in health and disease, using both Drosophila and mammalian models.
Eugenia read Cell Biology at the University of Palermo, Italy, and in 2001 got her PhD from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany. From 2002 to 2009 Eugenia did her post-doctoral work with Jean-Paul Vincent at the National Institute for Medical Research in London, UK. In the Vincent lab she started working on cell competition and has been working on cell competition ever since.
Eugenia started her group in 2010 at the Gurdon Institute at the University of Cambridge, UK and since 2017 she moved as a tenured Professor at the University of Bristol, UK. From 2010 to 2017 Eugenia was a Royal Society University Research Fellow and is currently a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow.
