Enakshi Sinniah 2019 Hunter Cell Biology Meeting

Enakshi Sinniah

Enakshi Sinniah is a PhD student at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience at UQ, currently undertaking her research at the Palpant Laboratory for Stem Cells and Cardiovascular Development. Enakshi’s research focuses on understanding the epigenetic principles that define and safeguard cellular identity. Using stem cells as a model system, her work investigates the underlying mechanisms governing cell-fate decisions during development and disease with special focus on the heart. She is currently working on a novel analysis tool, based on a conserved epigenetic logic quantified across diverse cell-states, to infer cell-type specific regulatory genes controlling cell diversification from genomic data. Enakshi received her B.Sc.(Hons) at the University of Queensland, with First Class Honours and a Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence. After commencing graduate studies she received a Children’s Hospital Foundation PhD-Scholarship Grant in support of her research and has received multiple awards for delivering outstanding oral presentations, including at the ISSCR/KSSCR symposium in 2019.
